Cement Sales Surge 16% in Q1 FY26 on Strong Local Demand

Pakistan’s cement industry kicked off the fiscal year 2026 with robust growth, as total dispatches climbed 16.25% year-on-year to 12.161 million tonnes in July–September, according to fresh data from the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA).

Domestic & Export Growth

  • Domestic sales: Rose 15.08% to 9.573 million tonnes (vs. 8.319m last year).
  • Exports: Jumped 20.81% to 2.589 million tonnes (vs. 2.143m last year).

This double-digit growth reflects both strong local demand and improving export activity.

Monthly Trends

  • July 2025: Dispatches soared 31.24% YoY.
  • August 2025: Up 13.47% YoY.
  • September 2025: Growth eased to 7.05%, with total dispatches of 4.25m tonnes (vs. 3.97m tonnes in Sep 2024).

📊 In September alone:

  • Local sales reached 3.418m tonnes (+14.38%).
  • Exports slipped to 831,966 tonnes (–15.25%).

Regional Performance

  • North-based mills:
    • September dispatches: 3.162m tonnes (+16.41%).
    • Q1 total: 8.672m tonnes, up 14.78%.
    • Exports jumped 30.49% to 661,866 tonnes.
  • South-based mills:
    • September dispatches fell 13.23% to 1.09m tonnes.
    • Q1 total: 3.489m tonnes, up 20.07%.
    • Domestic sales surged 22.99% to 1.562m tonnes.
    • Exports climbed 17.8% to 1.926m tonnes.

Industry Outlook

An APCMA spokesperson said the sector could grow even faster if the government reduced duties and taxes. With significant rehabilitation work after recent floods, cement demand is expected to remain strong in the coming months.
